Practice Information

You might be feeling lonely in your relationship, stuck in the same arguments, or struggling to communicate in a way that feels safe and truly understood. Maybe trust has been broken and you're unsure how to move forward. Whether you're dating, engaged, married, navigating a long-term partnership, or healing after a breakup, you're not alone—and support is available.

I specialize in relationship counselling for both individuals and couples at all stages. This includes premarital and marriage therapy, breakups and separations, processing past relationship wounds, and dating coaching. I welcome all relationship configurations, including LGBTQ+ and ethically non-monogamous (ENM) partnerships. No matter your relationship structure or history, you deserve a space where your experiences are validated, and your goals are supported.

Together, we’ll work to break unhelpful patterns, strengthen your emotional connection, and create a relationship where both partners feel heard, respected, and valued. This work isn’t about blame or keeping score—it’s about building something real and resilient that works for you.

My approach is warm, compassionate, and grounded in evidence-based methods. I draw from the Gottman Method to help couples rebuild trust, enhance communication, and foster intimacy. I’m also trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), a powerful modality that supports deeper emotional connection and healing by identifying the underlying needs and emotions that shape how we relate.

Whether we're addressing miscommunication, emotional distance, conflict cycles, or trust issues, my aim is always to help you move forward with greater clarity, compassion, and confidence.

If you're ready to heal, grow, or deepen your connection—with your partner or with yourself—I'd be honored to walk alongside you. Let’s take that next step, together.

I am FNHA and CVAP approved and offer direct billing to selected insurance companies.

I hold RSW (Registered Social Worker) and RCC (Registered Clinical Counsellor) registrations.

Hi, I’m Katya.

I’m a relationship counsellor with over 15 years of experience supporting individuals and families in both rural and urban communities across Canada and abroad. I’m also an approved provider with FNHA (First Nations Health Authority) and CVAP (Crime Victim Assistance Program), and I feel deeply honoured to support clients navigating trauma, anxiety, grief, relationship challenges, and life transitions.

Whether you’re in a relationship that feels disconnected, healing from a breakup or betrayal, or working through past experiences that affect how you show up with others—I’m here to help. I work with both individuals and couples at all stages, including those who are dating, engaged, married, or processing separation. I also welcome LGBTQ+ and ethically non-monogamous (ENM) relationships and provide a safe, inclusive space for all.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that everything you need to heal and grow already lives within you. I see my role as a supportive guide—to walk alongside you as you reconnect with your inner strength, challenge old patterns, and create the relationships and life you envision.

In our work together, I draw from a blend of evidence-based trauma therapies and relationship modalities. I’m trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and EMDR, which support the processing of trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and other emotional challenges through both cognitive and somatic pathways. For couples, I integrate tools from the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help improve communication, rebuild trust, and deepen emotional intimacy. I also weave in cognitive, mindfulness-based, and body-centered techniques to support emotional regulation, nervous system awareness, and long-term transformation.

My work is informed not only by my training but also by my personal journey. I’ve travelled to over 60 countries, and immigrated four times, and worked closely with refugees and first responders. These experiences have taught me about resilience, adaptability, and the power of human connection in the face of challenge.

Spirituality is also a meaningful part of my life. I practice Vipassana meditation and am a trained yoga teacher, drawing inspiration from Buddhist philosophy and the belief that presence, awareness, and compassion are key to healing. These practices help me stay grounded—and offer clients a deeper space to explore their own paths to clarity and self-connection.

When I’m not working, I’m usually out in nature—dancing, sailing, climbing mountains, or chasing sunrises and starry skies. I believe that life is the ultimate adventure, and stepping out of our comfort zones—whether emotionally or physically—is where real transformation begins.

If you’re ready to move forward—whether that means healing, growing, or rediscovering your sense of self—I’d love to support you. Let’s take that next step together.
