Practice Information
Hi! My name is Yuka, and I am glad that you are here. I am a neurodivergent Registered Clinical Counsellor, with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors and a person of colour with lived experience navigating neurodivergence. I hold a Master of Counselling degree from Monash University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia with a Major in Psychology and a Minor in Law and Society. I am also pursuing my Doctor of Counselling and Psychotherapy degree to further my education, deepen my expertise, and contribute to neurodiversity research and practice. I offer counselling through the Neurodiversity Wellness Collective to both neurodiverse and neurotypical adults virtually across British Columbia and Canada.
Specializing in areas such as Anxiety, ADHD, Autism, AuDHD, Depression, Grief/Loss, Stress Management, Neurodiversity, and School/Career challenges, I offer tailored support to address your unique needs. My personal journey, including undergoing brain surgery and navigating mental health challenges, has shaped my passion for clinical counselling and holistic well-being, encompassing both mind and body. Born in Japan, raised in Singapore, and now living in Canada, I bring a multicultural and third-culture perspective that honours the intersection of culture, identity, and lived experience within a therapeutic space.
As an AuDHD counsellor, I understand the importance of feeling heard, understood, and accepted. I prioritize creating a neurodivergent-affirming and inclusive environment for individuals at every stage of their journey, whether you have received a formal diagnosis, suspect you may be neurodivergent, or are navigating a new diagnosis.
I draw from a variety of evidence-based therapeutic modalities into my practice to create an integrative therapeutic approach that is tailored to your goals and needs, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness Based Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy.
If you feel ready to take the next step, I invite you to reach out. I offer a free 15-minute consultation to explore whether working together feels like a good fit. I look forward to connecting with you!
