Practice Information
As a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with a Master’s in Counselling Psychology, I offer a personalized and trauma-informed approach to therapy. My work integrates a variety of effective modalities to support healing, personal growth, and resilience. With certifications in Intuitive Eating, extensive training in Somatic Experiencing (SE), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), and Somatic Parts Work, I use these evidence-based techniques to help clients build lasting change and cultivate a deeper connection to themselves. Somatic Experiencing (SE) is one of the primary modalities I use, focusing on the body’s natural ability to heal from trauma. SE helps individuals release physical tension and trapped emotions associated with trauma, restoring balance and reducing the effects of chronic stress, hypervigilance, and pain. By focusing on bodily sensations and the nervous system, SE creates an opportunity to process and resolve trauma in a safe, grounded way. EMDR is another key approach that supports clients in processing traumatic memories and alleviating symptoms like anxiety, intrusive thoughts, and insomnia. This technique works by facilitating the reprocessing of distressing memories through bilateral stimulation, helping clients integrate these experiences into their life narrative in a way that reduces emotional charge and promotes healing. As a Certified Intuitive Eating Counsellor, I also work with clients to develop a healthier, more compassionate relationship with food. This approach challenges harmful dieting cycles and focuses on listening to the body’s hunger and fullness cues, fostering trust in one’s body and promoting well-being. Whether addressing disordered eating, body image concerns, or simply improving one’s relationship with food, Intuitive Eating helps clients find peace and satisfaction in eating. Additionally, I integrate Somatic Parts Work, which draws from Internal Family Systems (IFS), to help clients identify and understand the various parts of themselves. Often, these parts have developed in response to past experiences and trauma. Parts work helps individuals develop compassion for these internal aspects, facilitating healing and greater emotional integration. I draw on a variety of perspectives to help clients navigate issues related to gender, sexuality, and identity, as well as transitions, life changes, and neurodiversity. Whether exploring your gender expression, navigating a significant life shift, or simply seeking support to manage stress or grief, my approach is always collaborative. I honor each person’s lived experience and provide space for the exploration of new strategies to support their goals and needs. My work is rooted in a deep commitment to ongoing learning, especially in the areas of trauma recovery, resilience, and collective liberation. I integrate theories from queer, feminist, and disability studies, as well as attachment theory and anti-oppressive practices. If you’re seeking a therapist who combines innovative, trauma-informed approaches with deep respect for your individuality, I am here to support you. Together, we will create a space where healing, growth, and connection can flourish.
