Practice Information

Dr. Rosemary Rukavina is a compassionate and experienced psychologist with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and a Master’s degree in Counselling. With nearly 15 years experience, she has worked across diverse settings, from corrections and child and youth mental health to family services, offering a well-rounded perspective on mental health and wellness. She also shares her expertise by teaching in graduate programs in clinical psychology and counselling, inspiring the next generation of mental health professionals.

Dr. Rukavina’s approach is centered on fostering genuine, trusting relationships with her clients, where they feel respected, understood, and empowered on their healing journey. She is deeply committed to helping individuals heal from trauma, overcome life’s challenges, and experience lasting personal growth. With Dr. Rukavina, you’ll find a safe space for healing, growth, and transformation.

Dr. Rukavina welcomes individuals of all ages, gender identities, sexual orientations, cultural backgrounds, and spiritual beliefs. She specializes in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, stress, burnout, life transitions, and relationship struggles.

Her therapeutic style is holistic and client-centered. After years of offering traditional talk therapy, she has refined her practice to exclusively offer EMDR therapy, condensing traditional methods into an immersive weekly and multi-day experience. Intensive sessions offer the space and focus for deep healing typically not possible with traditional methods.

Dr. Rukavina works both virtually and in-person at Brentwood Counselling Centre. Currently, she is only taking new individual clients for online sessions.

Dr. Rukavina has worked in diverse healthcare settings, including corrections, child and youth mental health, and family services. She also has served as adjunct faculty for clinical psychology and counselling master's and doctoral programs.

Recognizing that each person and relationship is unique, Dr. Rukavina tailors her approach to individual needs, using only evidence-based therapies. Her primary methods include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Gottman Method Couples Therapy, alongside influences from narrative, psychodynamic, systemic, cognitive behavioural, and Adlerian approaches.

Research shows that a trusting relationship with a therapist is key to successful therapy. Dr. Rukavina prioritizes creating a respectful, supportive, and hopeful environment for healing. She achieves this through insightful questions and sharing her expertise, ensuring timely and effective care for clients and their families.

By the end of therapy, clients are better able to cope with life stress, feel less burdened by their past, have closer relationships, and have an improved self-understanding. Couples leave with deepened intimacy, restored trust, and enhanced conflict resolution skills.

Dr. Rukavina offers both individual and couples therapy sessions.
