Practice Information
My name is Reema. As an RCC, I work with individuals who feel trapped and powerless, and desire to move forward on their healing journey with a growth mindset. I hold the perspective that human suffering arises when we have difficulty reconciling the difference between our reality and our expectations, which leads to disconnection from ourselves in the form of anxiety, depression, and emotional dysregulation. By engaging in therapy, we aim to address traumatic experiences, identify self-limiting beliefs, recognize and regulate emotions, navigate through relational discourse, and move forward from earlier experiences with meaning and clarity while recognizing the importance of cultivating self-compassion and acceptance to explore your identity and build a stronger sense of self.
With the privilege of working with adults and youth across various cultures and professional backgrounds, I support clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relational distress, and childhood and sexual trauma. I help individuals overcome self-esteem issues, acculturative stress, addictions, and life transitions. My ideal clients are committed to seeking healing, breaking dysfunctional thinking and behavioural patterns, and learning to cope with emotional dysregulation to live life more authentically as they move along their journey of self-discovery. I am deeply intrigued by each individual’s intersectionality that informs their unique cultural identity and spirituality. I find meaning and fulfillment in engaging in conversations exploring the significance of past experiences and their impact on one’s growth and life trajectory. I believe this is a realm that holds valuable potential for enriching understanding of ourselves and our purpose in life. I'm passionate about working with individuals who are moving through life transitions and may be seeking to find a sense of purpose and fulfillment in their life. As a second-generation Canadian, I also work with immigrants, refugees, and BIPOC community members struggling with the impact of cultural transitions. I am fluent in Punjabi, Urdu, and Hindi, which allows me to help individuals overcome language barriers.
My approach is integrative and holistic with a culturally responsive, developmentally sensitive lens influenced by an understanding of the impact of trauma on the brain and CBT as my main modality. This approach allows me to gain insight into a client’s unique developmental experiences, trauma responses, and belief systems. I also draw from DBT, attachment-based therapy, EMDR, somatic experiencing, EFFT, and Gottman Method.
My journey has motivated me to connect and hold space for others to heal and grow. I provide a safe and comfortable environment for our sessions where we can talk about your concerns. By being here, you have already taken the first step towards recognizing the need to develop mental fortitude to enhance your well-being. I invite you to take the next step by booking a consultation with me.
