Practice Information
My name is Reema and I am an RCC. I work with individuals who are suffering from trauma as well as couples and families experiencing distress, conflict, and communication challenges. I hold the perspective that human suffering arises when we have difficulty reconciling the difference between our reality and our expectations, which leads to disconnection from ourselves in the form of anxiety, depression, and emotional dysregulation. By engaging in therapy, we address a range of topics such as unpacking trauma experiences, identifying self-limiting beliefs, recognizing and regulating emotions, navigating through relational discourse, recognizing the importance of self-care, and managing your overall health and wellness by cultivating self-compassion.
I have had the privilege of working with youth and adults aged 12 to 70 years old and across various cultures and professional backgrounds. I support individuals with mental health concerns that include anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relational distress, domestic violence, childhood trauma, and sexual trauma. I also help individuals overcome self-esteem issues, acculturative stress, addictions, and life transitions. I work with individuals seeking healing and aiming to break dysfunctional thinking, emotional regulation, and behavioural patterns to live life more authentically as you move along your journey of self-discovery.
I am deeply intrigued by each individual’s intersectionality that informs their unique cultural identity and spirituality. I find meaning and fulfillment in engaging in conversations exploring the significance of past experiences and their impact on one’s growth and life trajectory. I believe this is a realm that holds valuable potential for enriching our understanding of ourselves and our purpose in life. I'm passionate about working with individuals from various professional backgrounds who work under high stress and are at risk of vicarious trauma and burnout. I also work with immigrants, refugees, and BIPOC community members. I am fluent in Punjabi, Urdu, and Hindi, which allows me to help individuals overcome language barriers.
My approach is integrative and holistic with a culturally responsive, developmentally sensitive neurobiology-informed lens influenced by an understanding of the impact of trauma on the brain and CBT as my main modality. This approach allows me to gain insight into a client’s unique developmental experiences, trauma responses, and belief systems. I also draw from DBT, narrative therapy, emotion-focused therapies, attachment-based therapy, EMDR, somatic experiencing, family systems, and Gottman Method.
My journey has motivated me to connect and hold space for others to heal and grow. I provide a safe and comfy environment for our sessions where we can connect and chat about your concerns. The goal of our therapy sessions together will be to help you develop the mental fortitude needed to heal, achieve personal growth, and enhance your well-being.
