Practice Information
Patricia Ruiz, M.A., M.C., R.C.C. offers online and in-person counselling services to adult residents of British Columbia.
I work with adult individuals and couples experiencing challenges in their work, or personal lives. These are some of the areas I work with:
- anxiety, worry, avoidance, perfectionism, self-image
- depression, low mood, rumination, guilt, shame, self-blame
- trauma and trauma responses
- attachment injury and attachment wounds
- stress, symptoms of burnout
- grief, loss, and bereavement
- life transitions: graduation, immigration, career changes, relationship, identity
- issues of ageing, self-image, peri-, menopause, postmenopause
- couples and relationship issues, communication challenges
My approach is collaborative, relational, somatic-based, and trauma-informed. My approach emphasizes the exploration of body awareness, ways of thinking, and your emotions, and acknowledges your strengths and values. I also use imagery and metaphor, and incorporate mindfulness and self-compassion practices into my work. I’ve trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, and draw upon Gottman Method Couples Therapy for my work with couples to find a combination that will be helpful and connecting.
I'll listen without judgement and support you to process, and gain understanding of what might be needed, nurtured, acknowledged, or released, and together we'll explore what is helpful to bring about meaningful change. I would be honoured to walk alongside you on your journey of healing, growth, and creating a deeper connection to self and others. For a free 20-minute consultation by phone, or video call, please don't hesitate to contact me.
