If you are a person that has been facing a significant life challenge, a major life transition, or a change in how you thought life would look like, seeking support can be a daunting place to start. I support those who are hoping for an affirming, collaborative, creative space to express some of the thoughts and feelings that seem too big or scary to share with others in their life. Some of these concerns I address include coping with uncertainty, processing trauma, and living with more emotional regulation and a sense of ease in the body.
I have a special interest in working with issues of self-esteem, identity exploration (gender, sexuality, cultural), chronic illness/disability, and grief/loss of all kinds. In sessions, you can expect some days to be more goal-oriented and structured, and others to be more explorative and reflective. I love experimenting with what coping skills you are naturally drawn towards to create a tailored “tool kit” that you can update as your needs change. Ultimately, my hope is that in moments of distress, you have options on how to respond and that you feel more empowered and compassionate towards yourself.
Since most people tend to rationalize their feelings, I like to bring attention to the body and focus on what your uncomfortable emotions might be needing from you and teaching you. I believe your body is wise, and so integrating logic with feelings is key to my work; I do this through Emotion-Focused Therapy methods and the use of Polyvagal theory. I am passionate about exploring how you would like to live your life in more alignment with your hopes and values. I invite you to step towards greater compassion for yourself while facing your individual pain and our collective pain as a society. I welcome the opportunity to walk alongside you as you reclaim your power, worth, and healing.
