Practice Information

Three common things I hear:

  • you have some understanding of why something happens intellectually but that doesn't stop it from happening or feeling bad.

  • you can't figure out why you keep on doing the same thing in relationships/job/life despite knowing that it makes your life less satisfying.

  • you are sick of hearing things like "just love yourself" and not knowing how that feels or how to get there.

We can't always change things simply by talking about them. If we could we would have changed by now.

As a result of emerging neuroscience we know that we have a brain in our head and that our brains extends into the body.

The one in our head, our frontal lobe, is logical and tells us we need to change or do something different.

The one in our body is slower to change. It carries old patterns. It doesn't necessarily change by talking about something and doesn't always follow instructions ("move on!" or "feel better!") from the head brain. It is very powerful.

Working together we can bring these brains into relationship. We can change the deeper blueprints in the body.

These blueprints determine the following:

  • How you see yourself (e.g. positively/negatively, capable/incapable, worthy/unworthy of love).

  • How you see others (especially your most intimate relationships).

  • How you see the world (e.g. is it friendly and are you safe to take risks and be close to people).

Working together you will gain tools and new ways of being that shift your neural pathways. We change the programming down deep.

These are a few things these sessions are useful for:

  • depression (trouble finding energy or movement)

  • confusion when people say "just love yourself"

  • unexplained sadness

  • anxiety or tensing up

  • familiar uncomfortable sensations that won’t leave you alone

  • a sense of in-congruence (between what you believe/feel and what you rationally tell yourself)

  • questions or even massive doubt about your self-worth

  • trauma (PTSD-things that continue to live on in the body even once they’re finished)

  • trouble accomplishing your goals

  • finding you push people away

  • feeling alone

  • feeling you need to hold tightly to the people around you

  • the feeling of wanting to run away from others when things get too emotionally intimate

  • fertility challenges

  • blended family dynamics

Areas I draw on are mindfulness, neuroscience, and a knowledge of the culture/society we live in.

I offer online appointments as well as in person sessions in Vancouver and on the Sunshine Coast.
