Practice Information

I welcome clients from all walks of life to enter the profound journey of therapy. It can be unnerving to begin the process of discovering more about who and how you are, but it is also incredibly rewarding and freeing to understand yourself more deeply. In therapy, we work together to create a gentle, experiential field where you can learn to flow through all the feelings that have been difficult to experience. Freeing yourself up to feel, means freeing yourself from limiting fear, debilitating shame or unexpressed grief. We will endeavor to explore how beliefs you didn't even know you had can be reworked from the conscious vantage point of the intelligent, mature adult. Working together, we will focus on your ability to make clear decisions that mobilize and energize you in the direction of fulfilling your deepest desires. We will garner courage, foster loving kindness toward yourself, and embolden you to be more open, intimate, vulnerable and risk-taking. I urge clients to allow themselves greater self-compassion, greater empathy for others, more connected relationships and more abundant lives.

I have been practicing psychotherapy professionally full-time for more than twenty years. Counselling was an early passion for me and I chose it as my first and only career. In the first few years, in addition to running a private practice, I provided individual and family counselling in a Community Family Counselling Agency and then with Vancouver Coastal Health Authority where I worked with adolescents and families experiencing mental health disorders. I worked in addictions at Fraser Health Authority, and under contract with Family Services of Greater Vancouver in their employment assistance program. I completed training in end of life counselling. Prior to completing my Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology at UBC, I worked in a shelter for women fleeing from domestic violence where I received invaluable experience and training in the cycle of abuse and the legal system. In private practice, it has been an honour to work very extensively with a wide variety of people from all different cultures, ethnicities and sexual orientations. More recently, I have expanded Head and Heart Counselling to include other practitioners I trust and admire. I now enjoy the experience of leading a group of talented, passionate therapists. Each of us brings together a contemplative lens with scientific rigor in our own unique way. I now enjoy writing about all I have experienced with a desire to pass on to others anything I have learned, and everything I don't know.
