Practice Information
Are you a parent feeling overwhelmed by your child’s big emotions or an adult carrying the weight of past experiences that still affect your relationships, nervous system, or sense of self? You may be trying your best and still feel unsure how to create more calm, connection, or safety for your family or for yourself.
I’m Katrina Kaiser (MSW., RCC), a Registered Clinical Counsellor in Vancouver supporting individual adults, children, parents, and families. I offer trauma-informed counselling that helps people understand what’s happening beneath the surface and gently move toward healing, regulation, and more secure relationships.
My work is trauma-informed and attachment-focused, integrating body-based approaches with thoughtful reflection. For adults, this often means addressing the lingering effects of trauma including developmental trauma, relationship wounds, and overwhelming life events — in a way that feels paced, respectful, and supportive. I view symptoms not as problems to fix, but as meaningful responses shaped by experience.
For children and parents, I help when emotions feel big, explosive, or hard to manage. I support children in learning to recognize, express, and regulate their emotions, while helping parents better understand their child’s inner world. Together, we work to strengthen secure parent-child relationships, build trust, and create greater emotional safety, cooperation, and connection at home.
My approach includes:
- Creating a warm, steady, and compassionate space where difficult emotions can be explored safely
- Supporting nervous system regulation as the foundation for lasting change
- Trauma therapy for adults, including processing past experiences that continue to shape present-day patterns
- Helping children and caregivers make sense of emotions and behaviours
- Supporting parents in developing attunement, confidence, and practical tools
- Fostering greater security, resilience, and connection within relationships
