Practice Information

Jo-Ann Majcher works with adults and children to help them cope with life challenges.

Her practice with adults focuses on enhancing clients’ well-being while helping them cope with life stressors such as grief, relationship dissolution, professional burnout and work-life balance issues, or caregiver stress (e.g., coping with illness in the family, aging relative, caring for a special needs child).

She helps children who are experiencing difficult life transitions (e.g., separation, blending families, grief, school adjustment) and life stressors (e.g., friendships, trauma, illness).  When working with children, Jo-Ann emphasizes involving and collaborating with parents so that they can effectively support their child and family in making positive changes.

Jo-Ann believes in working collaboratively with people.  She focuses on identifying and enhancing individual strengths and on helping clients develop effective strategies for coping with and moving beyond emotionally difficult life situations.

Jo-Ann has a Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia and is registered as a psychologist with the College of Psychologists of B.C.  She also holds a teaching certificate with the BC Teacher Regulation Branch, Ministry of Education, and is credentialed as a play therapist/supervisor with the Association for Play Therapy.  Jo-Ann’s experience as a helping professional includes university teaching, clinical supervision of graduate counselling students, school counselling and elementary school teaching.
