Practice Information
My name is Ciara and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC # 20615) with my Masters in Counselling. I have over a decade of experience working in the field of mental health and substance use, in a variety of settings, including residential, community, and inpatient psychiatric care. I have vast experience supporting youth, adults, and families. I strive to provide a safe and supportive space for all clients, including individuals from diverse faith and cultural backgrounds, as well as those who identify as LGBTQIA2S+.
As a counsellor I actively strive to utilize a non-judgmental, client-centred, harm reduction, and anti-oppressive approach while empowering clients to understand and navigate the complex systems we all exist in. I specialize in providing services to individuals who may be struggling with concerns such as borderline personality disorder (BPD), mood disorders (anxiety/depression), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, substance use, difficulty with emotion regulation, and stress management. I also have experience working with individuals on the Autism Spectrum (ASD).
I take an eclectic approach, tailored to the individual needs of the client. Some of the modalities I use include dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), exposure response prevention (ERP) motivational interviewing (MI), solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), emotion-focused family therapy (EFFT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). I also have experience in suicide/self-harm/crisis assessment and intervention.
Don’t hesitate to call for a 15 minute complimentary phone consultation to see if my services may be a good fit.
