Practice Information
At Lantern Path Counselling, I provide trauma-informed counselling for individuals navigating anxiety, burnout, trauma, identity concerns, relationship challenges, neurodiversity, and the long-term impacts of difficult life experiences. I work collaboratively with clients at a pace that respects your emotional capacity and your readiness to move forward. In terms of theoretical orientation, I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and attachment science, and polyvagal theory.
My approach is grounded in the belief that our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors make sense in the context of what we have lived through. Rather than focusing on fixing or pathologizing, therapy is a space to slow down, build insight, and develop greater emotional flexibility, self-trust, and connection. Sessions tend to be gentle and exploratory to start, but it depends on your goals for therapy. My belief is that the client should be centered in all therapeutic decisions, so if you have opinions or preferences relating to how we should move forward, I will always do my best to respect and accommodate your wishes.
I believe that the identities we hold are important contributors to our mental wellness. I have particular experience supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ clients, individuals exploring or practicing consensual non-monogamy, and those navigating identity, attachment patterns in relationships, and relational stress. I strive to offer an inclusive, respectful space where clients do not need to explain or defend their identities in order to be understood.
I am a registered provider with the provincial Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP) and offer counselling for individuals who have been impacted by crime, with sessions focused on the psychological and emotional effects of those experiences. I worked for several years as a Claims Coordinator for CVAP and bring a strong working knowledge of the program. I aim to help clients access support with as little additional stress as possible.
If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to start, all of those parts of you are welcome. I offer free 15-minute consultation sessions to help you determine whether working together feels like a good fit, and there really is no pressure. My sincere hope is that you're able to connect with the mental health support that's right for you, regardless of whether that ends up being me or someone else.
