Practice Information
As a psychotherapist, I understand, and acknowledge, the vulnerability that accompanies counseling.
Emotional growth is contingent on gradually (1) facing, (2) addressing, and/or (3) overcoming challenges pertaining to:
- Relationship(s).
- Lived Experience(s).
- Grief & Loss.
- Illness & Injury.
- Parenting.
- Academia & Work.
I aspire to foster a therapeutic space that is warm, welcoming, safe, and neutral.
This environment creates a foundation that facilitates strong therapeutic relationships and healing.
I utilize the following orientations to guide my practice:
Frameworks
- Client-Centered.
- Trauma-Informed.
- Culturally-Sensative.
- Biopsychosocial Model.
Modalities
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP)
- Solution Focused (Brief) Therapy (SFT)
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
- Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)
I have a particular interest in the following areas of practice:
- Anxiety
- Mood Disorders
- Obessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
- Trauma
- Men's Mental Health
- Academic / Work Stressors
- Life Transitions
- Conflict
As a psychotherapist, I view my role as one in which I provide guidance, support, and insight.
Additionally, I value the self-introspection fostered during counseling that inspires individuals to make meaningful, and sustainable, changes within their lives.
I look forward to working with you!
Best,
Armaan Ratra (BSc, MACP, RCC)
