Practice Information
I believe that therapy can be a safe space for healing and self-discovery, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to support others throughout this process. I am passionate about providing a space of presence and safety, where you can feel heard, held, and supported. This is why I approach my sessions with a mindset of compassion and generosity and aim to offer a calm environment in order to safely explore what might be difficult topics.
I have experience working with various forms of trauma, anxiety, depression, OCD, relationship and family issues, as well as issues of sexuality and gender identity, which I approach with a sex-positive and non-pathologizing perspective.
As an immigrant, I am also familiar with the pain that can accompany difficult life transitions, and how helpful talking to someone can be during a challenging period of life. I am also particularly aware of the effect that intergenerational trauma can have on families and individuals and feel very passionate about offering a space where this topic can be explored.
I view mental health and social justice as being interconnected and practice with an anti-oppressive and decolonizing lense, informed by feminist and queer theory.
About the Work
I use an eclectic approach, drawing from many different theories, but am mainly informed by Attachment Theory, Family Systems Theory, Internal Family Systems, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
- I believe in the importance of establishing a therapeutic relationship where you can feel validated and supported.
- I believe that as the client, you know best what is and is not working, and I encourage and seek out open and ongoing communication.
- I practice with a trauma-informed lens and believe in the importance of nervous system regulation during sessions.
- Because of this, I often incorporate somatic interventions, as well as grounding exercises and resources.
- I value transparency and consent in the therapeutic space, and will regularly seek consent before we try different therapeutic interventions.
- Together, we will collaborate to co-create sessions that work best for you.
Specialized Training
- Veronika has additional training in Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFiT) from the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy.
