Led by Clinic Director Maryam Mills, who is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, and is Board Certified in Neurofeedback by BCIA, the team at MasterMind Brain Optimization Centres offers cutting edge Neurofeedback Therapy along with Psychological Counselling Therapy Services drawing on deep training and certification in many modalities including: EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Sensorimotor, Mindfulness, and Hypnosis Techniques. Additionally, Maryam is certified in Couples Therapy by the Gottman Institute in Seattle – an approach focused on repairing the relationships within the family. The goals of Gottman Method Couples Therapy are to disarm conflicting verbal communication, increase intimacy, respect, and affection, remove barriers that create a feeling of stagnancy in conflicting situations, and create a heightened sense of empathy and understanding within the context of the relationship.

To better inform her trauma work, Maryam also has specialized training in sensorimotor concepts and techniques from the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute which provides her advanced tools for assisting clients with trauma. Theoretically grounded in neuroscience and attachment research, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy includes the body in psychotherapy as both a source of information and target for intervention. A mindfulness-based approach is used to treat emotional and cognitive experiences that facilitates access to a deeper authentic experience.

Maryam also has training to help clients using EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). EMDR is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. Repeated studies show that by using EMDR therapy people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference.

At MasterMind Brain Optimization Centres, we are also able to deliver Neurofeedback Therapy services including assessments, brain maps, and brain training to treat a variety of symptoms including Anxiety, ADHD, Depression, Insomnia, Memory Issues, Mood Regulation, Addiction and more. Many clients report success with Neurofeedback where they may have hit a roadblock with traditional talk-therapy methods, and many of our clients find that a combination of Neurofeedback Therapy and traditional talk-therapy methods complement each other well. By offering both, we are able to find the right solution for each client's individual needs.
