You invest yourself in your relationships. Individuals, couples and parents have done their best to cope since the pandemic, and it's taken a toll on our emotional health and wellbeing. If life's ups and downs are getting to you, consider booking a session. Therapy touches your life deeply, and I am humbled by the trust my clients have given me over the years, to walk alongside of them while they heal the parts of their lives that they hold most dear! As a parent consultant and faculty member with the Neufeld Institute, I value the opportunity to help parents, educators and helping professionals make sense of and provide the best care for the children in their lives (even the grown ones).
Professional Background
I started my career in Alberta (U of Calgary BSW) in 1987. Two years later, I relocated to BC to work as a family crisis counsellor. In the fall of 1995, I returned to graduate school at the University of Guelph, Couple and Family Therapy training program. For two years, I worked as an intern therapist under the close guidance of four internationally accomplished Couple, Family and Sex Therapy Supervisors, and earned my Master's Degree and membership in the Canadian Association for Couple and Family Therapy. Returning to the Lower Mainland, I entered the field of healthcare, providing leading edge mental health services for children, youth, adults, and families. Over the next several years, I completed the additional supervision and clinical work to become a Clinical Fellow (Registered Marriage & Family Therapist) while working as a therapist, supervisor, and educator. In addition to leading a multidisciplinary mental health team who have been recognized provincially for excellence, I regularly provide workshops and professional training for local and international audiences.
In 2013, I joined friends and colleagues from Langley Obstetrics and Gynecology in a beautifully restored heritage building, opening a private counselling practice. I study, teach and consult with the attachment-based developmental approach of Dr. Gordon Neufeld of the Neufeld Institute. I provide counselling and consulting services to parents, couples and families of Langley and surrounding area, and online courses to students internationally. I'm also happy to meet with credentialed counselling professionals for consultation or supervision.
Personal background
I am warm and sincere, and aim to put people at ease from the first meeting. My approach to counselling is relationship and growth oriented. I am creative, knowledgeable, gentle yet persistent, courageous, and fair. I can be a strong advocate, while being very respectful of a person's right to make choices that fit for them.
I am married to my husband of 25+ years, and we are parents of two grown children. I have been a long-time volunteer, and an a capella singer with Vancouver's Lionsgate Chorus. I am an outdoor enthusiast, enjoying many opportunities for outdoor recreation in BC. I am a hobby artist and crafter, an avid reader, and when possible, I enjoy traveling with my family.
