It's natural to feel alone with your problems. Excessive worries, depression, a difficult relationship, or a painful loss feel heavy and make it hard to cope. You might feel further weighed down by thinking your situation will not improve. Counselling can help. Alone, or with a partner, you can safely explore your thoughts and feelings, and find ways to build resilience. Resilience helps you handle life more capably and happily. You can begin to feel hopeful as the weight you have been carrying begins to lift. I bring 30-plus years of experience working collaboratively with others to my private practice serving individual adults and couples.
A therapeutic conversation is different than talking with a friend or loved one. It focuses on you. Having an empathic listener to guide you through a therapeutic conversation with you, or you and your partner, is a recognized way of developing greater self-awareness. With new understanding comes a greater ability to meet challenges, solve problems, and achieve a more satisfying life. I focus on solutions. That involves clients being active participants in their own therapy, which includes practising new skills and awareness in daily life. While counselling is sometimes called "talk therapy" it is what you do, and the actions you take after the therapy sessions, that will lead to lasting change.
I can offer support with a number of challenges including but not limited to:
- Building resilience;
- Strengthening important relationships;
- Managing depression and anxiety;
- Handling loss, including death, divorce, and health; and,
- Improving parenting skills.
Most clients who have successful outcomes report feeling very comfortable with their therapists. Your time matters.
