Practice Information
Hi, I'm Lina and my goal is to give you tangible, specific tools that you can use to regain a sense of control – to feel calmer, or more settled, or more hopeful and peaceful – even as life inevitably presents new challenges and stressors.
You will receive safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental counselling that is tailored to your needs. You’ll also learn effective and practical strategies to help manage your current problems. If you want to address the root causes of these issues, I can also help you to explore and re-process past negative experiences that may be holding you back.
Negative life experiences may be stored as thoughts (for example, having negative beliefs about ourselves in spite of contrary evidence), emotions (like feeling sad or anxious all the time), or body sensations (such as a constant pit in the stomach, or a rapid heart rate).
The first step is to visit your healthcare practitioner to ensure you’re in good physical health, because some medical conditions, such as thyroid or hormone imbalances, can affect your mood. Once you and your specialist have established that your body systems are working well, we can explore other factors that may be contributing to your symptoms.
I believe in working holistically to resolve issues and to give you skills that you can use in your daily life. This can take the form of short-term therapy, as we address your negative thoughts and core beliefs, while learning effective mindfulness techniques and CBT strategies. And if it’s appropriate and desired, therapy can go deeper to explore and re-process negative experiences that are holding you back, using approaches such as EMDR.
Learning how to regulate physical sensations from your nervous system, even in difficult situations, can build your confidence at work, at home, or in relationships. Sessions are collaborative and respectful, with a strong focus on giving you real, hands-on strategies.
I also help working adults who have hit roadblocks or career challenges. Whether these issues stem from negative past experiences, or you’re struggling to manage conflict, navigate workplace politics, or cope with professional transitions, I can help you to move towards achieving your potential.
As a long-term cancer survivor (touch wood) I’m very familiar with anxiety, stress & depression and I bring a big heart and genuine compassion to every counselling session.
