Big Feelings. Tantrums. Meltdowns. Acting out. Sibling Rivalry. Screen-time battles. Middle of the night wakings. And the list goes on. If parenting your toddler or young child feels hard to you right now, that's because it is hard. And you don't have to do it without professional guidance. Hi, I'm Dr. Lauren, a registered psychologist who specializes in early child development and child and family mental health. I offer coaching sessions to parents of children 0-6 where I share the latest knowledge in child development, psychology, and neuroscience and provide personalized suggestions for actionable strategies that you can use at home to strengthen your relationship with your child, transform your parenting patterns, and help your child and family thrive.
In addition to parent coaching sessions, I also offer psychodiagnositc assessments and individual therapy sessions to children and teenagers struggling with:
- Stress or Anxiety (including separation anxiety, social anxiety, general anxiety, health anxiety, or a specific phobia such as fear of needles or dogs)
- Fear of medical environments and procedures (going to hospitals, the doctor's office, or the dentist)
- Coping with/adjusting to serious medical conditions (particularly cancer)
- Feels of sadness or depression
- Emotion Regulation Challenges
- Sleep challenges (falling asleep, staying asleep, being unable to sleep independently)
- Refusal to attend school
- Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
- Conflict with parents
- Conflict with peers (including siblings)
I use an engaging and genuine approach and therapeutic techniques that are supported by the latest research, mainly cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT). I can appreciate that it can sometimes be hard for children and teens to open up and share personal information with a therapist. For this reason, I foster a safe, warm, and nonjudgmental space for children, teens, and their families to feel comfortable.
I offer virtual sessions for clients across British Columbia as well as in-person sessions at Equilibrium Behavioural Health in Vancouver.
