Practice Information
Hello and welcome!
I'm Kirsten, Registered Clinical Counsellor and Canadian Certified Counsellor, located in Coquitlam, BC. I am the owner of Flourish Counselling, and the co-founder of Cove Counselling & Co., a collective of independent counsellors who believe in community and compassionate care.
I work with people struggling with:
- Unexpected childlessness
- Grief/loss
- Trauma (PTSD, complex PTSD, relational and developmental trauma)
- Anxiety
- Anger, self-regulation, and coping strategies
- Personal growth
- Self worth, self confidence
- Other life transitions and/or struggles
My own personal experiences have shaped the way I approach counselling with others. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and trauma-informed. I integrate mindfulness, and somatic practices to help you reconnect with your inner strength and move forward with clarity and purpose. I believe that although we cannot change past events, we can change the impact those events have on us. It is important for me to create a safe space for people to feel comfortable discussing difficult topics that may make them feel vulnerable as I believe that everyone should feel respected, empowered, courageous, and optimistic about seeking help.
Therapeutic approaches I draw from include:
- Trauma-Informed Care
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Somatic Attachment Psychotherapy (completed 2 year training)
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Mindfulness-based approaches
- Strengths-Based Therapy
- Narrative and Person Centered Therapies
I offer individual counselling sessions for adults 18 years and older, virtual workshops for anxiety (A New Way Forward), and a supportive space for those living life after unexpected childlessness (Living HeartFULLY). I also offer a webinar that provides holistic support parents of neurodiverse children (NESTS for Parents). Sessions are available online throughout Canada.
At the heart of my work is a deep respect for each person’s unique story. I believe in the wisdom people hold within themselves, even if it feels out of reach. Together, we can uncover patterns, process pain, and nurture resilience. I often hear from clients that they feel truly seen and heard—sometimes for the first time in a long time.
Witnessing my clients gain new perspectives and then start making more aligned choices from an empowered space is the most rewarding part of my work. When you start being a positive influence in your own life, that is the birthplace of transformation.
If you’re ready to take the next step or simply want to learn more, I’d be honoured to walk alongside you. Reach out to schedule a free consultation (I offer oa free 15-20 minute phone consultation). I look forward to connecting with you!
