As an Adlerian psychotherapist, he considers the individual inclusively and integrally connected to his community and environment. Meaning that he swiftly and respectfully considers the individual from within the 5 following domains of life:

  1. work
  2. community (family, friends, social support)
  3. sex and relationships
  4. self-evaluation, and
  5. spirituality and/or "life-guiding" principles and values.

Additional practical applications to address concerns may include:

  • dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
  • solution focused therapy
  • art therapy
  • dream analysis
  • mindfulness and meditation, and
  • Gottman method couples counselling.

However, Joe is a firm believer that the most important aspect of the psychotherapy session is the relationships, supported by mutual respect, trust, and dignity.

In addition to private practice, he is a guest speaker on Adlerian Counselling, teaches at Adler University, provides Supervision to the Clear Counselling team and Master’s Level Counsellors in Practicum, and volunteers with the North American Society of Adlerian Psychology and the Health Initiative for Men.

When coming into counselling with Joe, he is very keen to understand the reason you've come to counselling in the way you see it. In short: What Matters To You
