Dr. Eric Ochs was awarded his doctoral degree in clinical psychology from McGill University in 2000. He was trained and worked for a number of years at the Royal Victoria Hospital (Montreal) in the Sex & Couple Therapy Service as well as the Montreal Children’s Hospital working in an ADHD/ADD research clinic. His clinical training was broad-based with a strong emphasis on cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) for the treatment of OCD, depression, anxiety, and other mental health disorders.

Dr. Ochs authored or coauthored about a dozen scientific papers on various topics early in his career. Since coming to Victoria in 2002, Dr. Ochs has taught at UVIC and Royal Roads University, worked in private practice, and consulted to medical clinics in Victoria. He is a registered psychologist in British Columbia since 2004.

Dr. Ochs worked in mental health for the Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) from 2005 until 2021. He led the outpatient group therapy program at VIHA’s Urgent and Short Term Assessment and Treatment clinic (USTAT) and worked with inpatients and outpatients at the RJH, and at the Victoria Mental Health Center (VMHC) and Mental Wellness Day Program, with a focus on treating Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and related conditions (Hoarding Disorder). In addtion, Dr. Ochs was adjunct professor at the University of Victoria (UVIC) in the department of Psychology, and provided training (primarily in CBT for anxiety disorders) for UVIC students in Clinical Psychology for over a decade.

Since 2005, Dr. Ochs has provided CBT psychotherapy for anxiety disorders (focus on OCD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder/Agoraphobia, and simple phobias) in his private practice. 

Dr. Ochs is a member of the British Columbia Psychological Association (BCPA), the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS), and the Canadian Association of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CACBT).
