Deborah Braun, BLA, MA, RCC welcomes individuals and couples facing challenging issues. Whether it's chronic illness, relationship, career or college satisfaction, anxiety, depression, loss, stress or low self esteem, Deborah can help you chart a new path through this adversity. She also provides workshops on topics such as managing stress, overcoming adversity, building hope, developing a healthier attitude, dealing with disappointment and  gaining relief from anxiety, in corporate, academic and independent venues. Most recently, she was a guest lecturer at City University and an assistant educator at the Adler School of Professional Psychology

Deborah is a down to earth, creative and encouraging Registered Clinical Counsellor with a strong commitment and talent in helping clients build enduring life skills, confidence, motivation and hope.

With a respectful and collaborative style, she encourages confidence, assisting in reducing self-criticism, setting realistic goals, illuminating strengths and recognizing accomplishments. She helps establish helpful and healthy life-skills with practical sessions in problem solving, communication, relaxation, physical exercise and mindfulness. She inspires motivation by helping clients identify their needs, values and resources, accept natural and normal feelings whilst exploring creative ways to face challenges. Her goal is to foster hope and facilitate movement towards a desirable future, one encouraging step at a time.

Deborah's diverse career, life experience and training have made her an empathetic, skilled counsellor, with great appreciation for the complex challenge of balancing personal, family, career and health goals. During her years in London, England, she helped manage a large health facility and provided executive coaching to a predominantly male clientele of executives, hospital administrators and Members of Parliament. While raising her family (in pre and post-9/11) suburban New York she volunteered in various capacities with local schools and the Girls Scouts of America.

Deborah's personal struggle with an unexpected diagnosis of type-1 diabetes inspired her research into the role that psychological distress can play in healthy adaptation and adjustment to chronic illness. In her Vibrant despite Illness lecture series, Deborah enthusiastically shares helpful insights and techniques that foster healthy psychological and physical well-being.

To assist in your decision about counselling, Deborah offers a free telephone consultation to discuss your issues and expectations. Before your first session begins, take this opportunity to ensure that you feel at ease in your counselling relationship with Deborah.

Deborah earned her Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree at UBC, her Counselling Certificate at Regents College, London, and her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at the Adler School of Professional Psychology, Vancouver. She has specific training in CBT, Mindfulness - CIMBS, Assertiveness, Motivational Interviewing and Stress reduction.
