Practice Information
Hi! I'm Cory (he/him). As a counsellor, I embrace diversity and strive to provide culturally sensitive care to individuals from diverse backgrounds, but I also have a lot of passion for working with the queer community and fellow consensually non-monogamous folks. I have confidence in my ability to work with issues relating to identity, self-image and self-worth, depression and anxiety, grief and loss, and life transitions, as well as suicidality and self-harm. Even if you don't have words to describe the precise nature of your distress, we can take it slow and explore together at a pace that's comfortable for you.
I am a bisexual, thirty-something, polyamorous, cisgender man of European descent. I tend to draw on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), polyvagal theory, and feminist/anti-oppressive therapies. I am personally inspired by mindfulness practice, and I try to use mindfulness in client sessions to offer open, non-judgmental, and compassionate presence. I also believe that the identities that we hold are relevant to the counselling process, so I do my best to invite clients into conversations about how these different parts of who we are (e.g. gender, ethnic background, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, etc.) affect our experience of issues in our lives.
I believe that seeking out mental health support is always a courageous act. If you're actively seeking out a counsellor, I want to acknowledge you for showing yourself the kindness and compassion that you deserve, regardless of who you end up working with. Please feel free to reach out - I'm always happy to arrange consultation sessions to ensure good fit.
At this time, I offer online sessions through my private practice, Lantern Path Counselling, and I offer in-person and online sessions through Tulua Therapy. My schedule at this time is as-follows:
- Mondays (Tulua Therapy, in-person or online): 2:30 pm - 8:30 pm
- Tuesdays (Lantern Path, online only): 10 am - 5:00 pm
- Fridays (Lantern Path, online only): 12 pm - 6:00 pm
- Saturdays (Tulua Therapy, in-person or online): 10 am - 4 pm
Please note that this schedule reflects general times that I am available. There may be some flexibility in my schedule. If you think that we may be a good fit, please go ahead and book a consultation session or email me directly. If you provide some dates and times that work for you, I will do my best to see if we can make that work.
