Practice Information
I incorporate a diverse range of somatic (body-centered) therapies into my practice, drawing on extensive training and personal growth experiences that have significantly shaped my therapeutic approach. My work encompasses modalities such as somatic therapy, nervous system reshaping, shadow work, inner child re-parenting, mindfulness, family constellations, Jungian aspects, and dream work. I received specialized training in assisting individuals who have faced early life trauma, relationship challenges, emotional dysregulation, and feelings of disconnection or disembodiment, I also address issues related to self-esteem, worthiness, grief, powerlessness, shame, abandonment fears, anxiety, depression, life transitions, relational and attachment wounds, as well as spirituality. Central to my practice is the focus on helping clients reconnect with themselves, enhance their emotional well-being, and develop resilience to effectively navigate life's obstacles. Through a holistic approach and compassionate demeanor, I provide a safe and supportive environment for clients to explore and transform their lives.
My path to becoming a psychotherapist began during my childhood when my family immigrated to Canada from Romania amidst the post-communist era. This transition proved challenging for me as a sensitive and empathetic child, as I struggled to integrate and search for a sense of belonging within a new cultural environment. Growing up, I noticed a lack of representation and understanding of diverse cultural experiences among my peers, further contributing to my internal conflict.
Recognizing the importance of belonging as a fundamental human need, I embarked on a personal exploration into the impact of our developmental years on our self-identity and relationships. As my parents worked tirelessly to establish themselves in Canada, the capacity for in-depth conversations and support for my adaptation was limited. Although my childhood and teenage years presented difficulties, I developed deep friendships that have endured and become an integral part of my chosen family. These early life experiences fueled my curiosity about the connection between our unfulfilled childhood needs and our adult longings.
Motivated by my personal experiences and innate fascination with the multifaceted nature of human existence, I pursued a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Victoria, followed by a Master's degree in Counselling at City University. During my educational journey, I embarked on travels across Europe and Asia, reconnecting with individuals who shared similar intersectional identities. These experiences further facilitated my own reconnection to my authentic self.
To enhance my therapeutic practice, I have sought extensive training in various Body-Centered Psychotherapy approaches. Continual learning in this field allows me to support clients in processing trauma and addressing challenging patterns through a holistic integration of mind and body.
Overall, my personal journey and commitment to understanding the complexities of human experiences have shaped my professional path as a psychotherapist. I am driven by the desire to assist individuals in exploring their own narratives, facilitating healing, and fostering personal growth.
