Practice Information
Hello, my name is Arshia! I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor and a Registered Psychiatric Nurse, who has been working in the mental health care field for over a decade now. My love for this field started when I began working as a Community Support Worker, working with youth and adults diagnosed with developmental disabilities in their homes and out in the community. I then began to work as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse, where I enjoyed supporting adults and older adults in group homes, long term care facilities, hospital units, virtual psychiatry units, and in the community. My most recent role as an RPN has been working with youth aged 12-20 years old, diagnosed with a developmental disability and/or autism. As an RCC I have enjoyed supporting children as young as 4 years old, youth, and adults. I absolutely love what I do and am passionate about creating a safe space for any individual.
I put myself in the shoes of the clients I see, and believe that the first step is ensuring that you feel as though I am a good fit for you. My approach is eclectic, pulling tools and methods from different therapeutic modalities because each individual is different. With children and youth, I use tools such as synergetic play therapy, art therapy, and sand tray therapy. I empathize with the vulnerability of opening ourselves up to someone new, welcoming them into our world and sharing our deepest concerns.
I am now also providing couples counselling, family counselling, and parent coaching through different clinics, both virtually and in person. I work collaboratively with each individual to reach their counselling goals. Whether you need a place to share your thoughts or want to work on finding strategies to help you target life’s struggles, we will work on it together. As a child and youth therapist, I work with the children and their families to help support any behaviors or overwhelming emotions so that parents also feel prepared to support their child outside of the counselling space. I believe that through laughter and play, we can build skills and conditions that allow children to thrive.
Outside of work, you’ll find me trying to learn something new, at a bookstore, exploring the newest café or ice cream shop, building LEGO sets, or out for a walk. I currently offer services in Surrey, South Surrey, and in Coquitlam, both in person and virtually, depending on your needs. I look forward to hearing from you!
