Practice Information
Hello! I'm Alejs, pronounced 'Alex'. I work from an anti-oppressive, queer/trans and neuro affirmative lens incorporating EMDR, Brainspotting, Somatic Attachment psychotherapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS). The approaches I use are informed by emergent research on attachment and neurophysiology. Clients who work with me can expect a warm and gentle invitation to finding new and creative ways of reconnecting to the wisdom and resilience inherent in their bodies. This approach offers creative ways to process distress related to trauma and living in a world not built for most of us to thrive. Humour, curiosity and playfulness are central to my practice. My practice is centred on collaboration with my clients in co-creating a safe-enough container in which they can feel supported when digging into difficult material.
My main areas of focus are:
- 2SLGBTQIA+ communities
- Trauma: PTSD & C-PTSD (adverse childhood experiences, sexualized violence, religious trauma, migration and marginalization)
- People pleasing & burnout
- Non-normative relationships & lifestyles.
- Neurodivergent folks
- 1st gen. & immigrant Canadians, People of the Global Majority (PoGM)
- Deep thinkers who want to explore their emotions but aren't sure where to start
In my work, and in my personal life, I am committed to supporting the liberation of all people who are marginalized and dehumanized by oppressive systems. All people are welcome!
