Practice Information

Grounded in the values of transparency, humility, empathy and empowerment, my practice acknowledges that mental health injuries and difficulties are normal responses to certain situations and circumstances.

Counselling experience in a university wellness center, and in health authorities in Northern BC and Nova Scotia, has given me a strong background in working with depression, anxiety, panic, people-pleasing, various types of trauma, borderline personality and concerns common to post-secondary students including life transitions, academic demands and pressure to succeed. Other areas of interest include addiction, grief, and management of emotional reactions and expression. Prior to counselling, I did years of community support work with individuals with developmental disabilities and did practicums in social services. I am grateful to work in a field that allows me to meaningfully connect with people.

With awareness that everyone has a different set of circumstances they are navigating, I use an eclectic approach to therapy that adjusts to fit the needs of each client. My approach draws largely on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Emotion Focused Family Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, and body-based mindfulness practice.

I strive to be an LGBTQIA+ ally, and to respect the different cultural, political, and family social systems that everyone exits within. I’m grateful to get to know the paths you’re walking and to be a part of your journey.
