Practitioner Background:

Katrina Onysko, MC, RCC (#17810) provides an open and nonjudgmental therapeutic approach that strives to help clients feel safe and supported in their counselling work. She welcomes clients from all backgrounds and identities coping with diverse mental health challenges, including significant stress, life changes, relationship difficulties, and neurodiversity.

For the past 15 years, Katrina has worked in the public health sector, supporting a range of clinical outpatient programs and services focused on child/adolescent mental health, ADHD, OCD, and people living with HIV/AIDS. Katrina works from a Feminist and Relational-Cultural Therapeutic perspective and incorporates modalities such as CBT, DBT, IFS, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to create an effective set of skills and approaches tailored to meet each client’s needs.

Katrina is a graduate of Adler University and holds a Master of Counselling Psychology degree in addition to numerous training and certificate courses. She is a member in good standing with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) and has been practicing as a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) since 2016.

Additional Areas of Practice:

Katrina works with City University in Canada (CityU) as an Associate Faculty for the Master of Counselling Psychology Program. She has taught courses including Psychopathology & Psychopharmacology, Child & Adolescent Counselling, and Group Counselling. Katrina also regularly works as an Evaluator for both oral and written student competency exams throughout the academic year.

Katrina also works at another online counselling clinic, Psychotherapy Room, as an Associate Practitioner. She is available for virtual counselling with individuals, couples, and families on Mondays and Tuesdays (morning/afternoon).
