Practice Information

Often in the beginning, people share being tired of struggling with one or more of the following:

  • depression
  • anxiety
  • addiction (substances, gambling, pornography)
  • disordered eating or self-harm
  • "undeserving" or "unworthy" thoughts
  • conflict or communication struggles with their partner
  • grief/sadness
  • the negative consequences of racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia
  • loss/empty
  • exhausted
  • shame/guilt
  • anger/ resentment/ blame
  • regret
  • scared for their young person or family member who is struggling with substances

I invite you to contact me if these struggles also fit with what you are going through.  These feelings indicate not only what you do not want in your life but also point to what you do want.  We can explore what is not working for you and the problems that are holding you back together.  Although people often say initially that it can be hard to imagine the change, I know in my bones that change is possible as I have helped many people regain their lives back from problems and have more meaningful and rewarding lives.

I also offer family and couples counselling to heterosexual, queer, trans, poly-amourous and monogamous couples.

If this feels like a good fit for you, I invite you to contact me so we can start working together to help you make change.

A little about Dennis:

Dennis Dion is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and sees clients in his Vancouver office.  He has been working as a counsellor for almost 20 years in treatment, outpatient, and private practice settings and he believes it's a privilege to help support people in making meaningful change.

He has two kids with two moms and believes it was one of the best decisions in his life to be a father.

Dennis has worked for Vancouver Coastal Health as a Youth Concurrent Disorders Counsellor.  Part of his role was to support youth who were trying to get their lives back from substance misuse and struggling with mental health concerns such as depression or anxiety.  Similarly, Dennis worked with families or people who are affected by someone's substance misuse as substance misuse impacts the lives of the people around them.   Dennis also worked with THIP (Transgender Health and Information Program) offering support for caregivers of trans/gender queer youth.

Dennis started out his career working as a Family Therapist at Peak House which is a residential treatment program for youth working towards getting their life back from drugs and alcohol. He worked with young people and their families from diverse cultural backgrounds to help them get reconnected to each other after the bomb of addiction had gone off in their families.
