Practice Information
In counselling sessions I work to maintain a safe environment for my clients. I strive to create a space free from judgment so clients feel comfortable to share openly. As I get to know my clients, I allow them to get to know me as well, as this helps to form the strong counselling rapport need to create change. Every client is met where they are at and with the aim of the client taking an active role in their change process.
At times, counselling can be both challenging and rewarding. I feel privileged to have a part in helping people move through the challenges in their lives, identify areas for growth, process pain or loss, and more generally, just be someone my clients can count on. My experience as a highs school counsellor has allowed me to gain knowledge regarding transitioning into post secondary and the work force, as well as build my competence with counselling techniques. My experience as an Olympic coach, has provided insight into the challenges of perfectionism and performance anxiety.
I have a special interest in helping individuals find a stronger sense of self, as I believe this helps people becometo better able to navigate life transitions, stresses, career changes and relationship challenges. I have found great success in identifying strengths, as well as areas for growth, as access points to deeper understanding of personal values and how these values influence daily life. My wish is for the people I work with to one day leave counselling with a stronger sense of self and be proud of the person they are becoming.
