Practice Information

Accepting New Clients virtually and in-person. I am a registered social worker practicing close to downtown.

Sometimes we all feel stuck. Our go-to methods of coping aren’t working anymore, or we aren’t getting what we need from those we usually turn to. Sometimes we need a space to be heard and other times we want someone to help us set some goals and take those first steps. In working with youth, individuals and families I bring curiosity, gentleness, humour and compassion along with knowledge of many therapeutic modalities. This allows me to be flexible and tailor our work together to your specific needs.

Over almost 20 years of practice I have worked extensively with mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety in both youth and adults, as well as grief and loss, addiction, relationship issues, major life transitions, parenting concerns, perfectionism and self-harm. If you don’t see your specific concern listed, please reach out so we can discuss further.

I am passionate about being a social worker and this lens informs the counselling work that I do with clients. Our society has a tendency to label individuals and locate problems within the individual. We often forget to recognize and name the larger social structures and oppressions that are working against many of us and that cause us to feel shame if we are struggling. Along with individual therapeutic techniques I often try to help clients zoom out and see the big picture influences that are impacting them and to help them advocate, when necessary, within those structures. Regardless of what we may have been told, most problems were not created in isolation and they are not going to be healed in isolation, but rather in connection with others.

Finally, the feeling of a good fit is of the utmost importance between the client and therapist and I am happy to speak with you for a free consult if you are interested in working with me. We were never meant to have to figure out life’ challenges alone, so please reach out when you feel ready.

Please note that at any given time a certain number of my appointment spots are sliding scale as I believe that high quality counselling should be as accessible as possible. I am also a First Nation Health Authority and ICBC approved provider.
