Practice Information
Julie is a Registered Social Worker (13631) with a diverse background and over a decade of experience in social work. She obtained her Master’s in Social Work and began a special focus in palliative and bereavement care before opening up her clinical practice in 2020. Julie has since expanded her practice, working with various demographics, with a focus on stress, anxiety, life transitions, and more.
Julie’s areas of focus include:
- Anxiety and Depression: Offering therapeutic support for individuals managing anxiety and depression, helping them develop coping strategies, gain emotional regulation, and build resilience.
- Addictions: Supporting individuals managing substance use challenges, guiding them through recovery and personal growth with a harm reduction lens.
- Prenatal Loss: Providing compassionate care for individuals and families experiencing pregnancy loss, helping them navigate the emotional complexities of grief.
- Life Transitions: Assisting clients with major life changes such as career shifts, relationship transitions, and personal development.
- Bereavement: Helping individuals and families process grief and loss, supporting them in both individual and family group settings. Julie’s calm presence and gentle approach create a safe space for clients to navigate difficult emotions.
- Executive Functioning: With training in executive functioning, Julie works with both children and adults, particularly those with ADHD, to develop strategies for managing time, prioritizing tasks, and improving emotional regulation. She helps school-age children adapt to the classroom model and assists adults in overcoming procrastination and disorganization.
Julie uses a variety of therapeutic approaches, including narrative therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapy. By helping clients gain perspective on their emotions and improve communication with their support systems, Julie collaborates with each individual to set goals and create new, empowering life narratives.
Julie provides online counseling sessions throughout the week, including evenings and weekends, and is currently accepting new clients. Walk and Talk sessions are available in the Campbell River area weather depending. She is also designated under the First Nations Health Authority, please reach out if you need assistance in receiving sessions if you feel you may be eligible for this program. Subsidized sessions are available upon request and proven need.
