Practice Information

Counselling is a deeply personal experience. A therapy relationship is built on a foundation of trust and trust is built over time as we gain knowledge and experience of another person.

With 25 years of experience working with adults, youth and families in a variety of clinical settings, I have come to understand the power of therapeutic alliance - or the bond between therapist and client. I am highly focused on co-creating relationships rooted in acceptance and compassion and strive to create an environment of safety and inclusivity so that each client can can explore their areas of concern and fully heal. I am skilled helping clients heal from the effects of chronic stress, adversity in childhood and traumatic events. I often work with issues of attachment, anxiety and mood disorders, disordered eating, substance use issues, parenting/separation, complicated grief, loss and more.

I hold a Masters of Social Work Degree from the University of British Columbia (2004) and I am a Registered Social Worker in the Province of British Columbia (since 2009). My undergraduate studies include; a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Victoria (1999) and a Joint Bachelor of Arts in Native Studies and Anthropology from Trent University (1996). My experience working cross culturally is wide ranging; I am an approved mental health provider for First Nation's Health Authority and the Crime Victims Assistance Program (CVAP).

My approach is trauma informed and integrates a variety of cognitive and body-oriented therapies; including focusing, somatic experiencing, internal family systems, cognitive behavioral therapy and psychodynamic therapy. I support clients to gain insight, self-compassion and learn new ways to increase the capacity in their nervous system in order to experience vitality, joy and a basic sense of aliveness on a consistent basis. My passion supporting others in their healing process spans across decades and is fueled by the transformation I have experienced in my personal healing journey and in the lives of hundreds of clients over the years. I welcome you to reach out to schedule an appointment or to arrange a 15 minute complimentary phone consultation to explore if we may be a fit. I am pleased to welcome both new and returning clients in my practise.
